Kai's Video Blog: Feb 14 - Cardio Pt2- Q&A with Fans - Prep for the ArnoldThis video may seem like a repeat of Part two but it's not. This is the first half of the interview where Shawn asks specific questions about falling down or passing out and what's been happening with Kai.

Initially we were going to title this "Kai the Enigma" because he became a ghost of a sort and no one could find him. We all thought it had to do with the pressure and the workouts but what it comes down to is ...

Well, you just have to watch and listen to find out.

Kai's Video Blog: Feb 14 - Cardio Pt2- Q&A with Fans - Prep for the ArnoldOne's success has less to do with doing what is expected as opposed to who you are and what you can will yourself to do.

Kai came out to Venice, the bodybuilding Mecca only to find that it's not all that it's supposed to be.  It's like the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and Dorothy traveling these miles off to see the Wizard only to find that they've always had what they were searching for in life.

Kai opens up with Shawn Ray on his trials and tribulations down the Yellow Brick Road only to find that maybe his relationship with Oscar was the best combination as opposed to coming out to work with Charles.

Rumors have been rampant:
- Did Kai Pass Out?
- Did Kai go into a coma?
- Did Kai quit?
- Was a bag of Ho-Hos involved somewhere?
- Did Kai die for you bitches?

Shawn and Lonnie ask him the down and dirty. (And he's still wearing those red swaets.)

Kai's Video Blog: Feb 14 - Cardio Pt2- Q&A with Fans - Prep for the ArnoldThis is a continuation of the first segment where Bill Comstock interacts with Kai during Kai's cardio.

We took questions from the forums, wrote them down for Kai and while on the stair master (gauntlet) Kai attempts to red and answer the questions.

You can tell at this point that Kai is tired, hungry and is not the best of moods but he reaches deep inside for some intestinal fortitude to help answer some questions.

Kai's Video Blog: Feb 14 - Cardio - Q&A with Fans - Prep for the ArnoldTo me this is an interesting segment where Bill Comstock interacts with Kai during Kai's cardio.

We took questions from the forums, wrote them down for Kai and while on the stair master (gauntlet) Kai attempts to red and answer the questions.

Kai's Video Blog: Feb 12 - Back Pt3 - Lower Back - Prep for the Arnold E-mail
Sunday, 15 February 2009
Kai's Video Blog: Feb 12 - Back Pt3 - Lower Back - Prep for the ArnoldThis is the last of the back workouts. Charles takes Kai through a round of finishing touches concentrating on the lower back.

The tendency is to allow the glutes and the hamstrings do the work where the lower back should be worked; however, in accordance with Charles' guidance, Kai was able to hit the lower back directly: "Take the intensity of the movement and allow the spinal erectors to kick in."

Kai's Video Blog: Feb 12 - Back Pt2 - Pull Down Hell - Prep for the Arnold E-mail

Kai's Video Blog: Feb 12 - Back Pt2 - Pull Down Hell - Prep for the ArnoldMoving on into the back workout program, Charles runs Kai through a series of pulldown exercises. Kay refers to another machine as some form of medieval torture chamber. It allows the pull to come back while the hands rotate allowing a full pull activated the back muscles.

Charles and his assistant also take your normal workout piece of equipment, add a board, sit on it backwards and cause it to hit muscles you never knew you had.

I am tired just from watching Kai hit his back like its never coming back!

Kai's Video Blog: Feb 12 - Back Pt1 - Lat Work - Prep for the Arnold E-mail
Saturday, 14 February 2009
Kai's Video Blog: Feb 12 - Back Pt1 - Lat Work - Prep for the ArnoldFollowing along the torture trail laid out by Charles Glass, Kai is working his back today. In this particular installment, Kai starts off with Lat Pulldowns and then goes into one of those crazy Charles Glass signature moves such as the seated incline row.

Charles has a system to his madness using his assistance to move the weight, strip plates all while trying to get Kai to maximize the movement.

"Charles really tries to change the angles on me ... to get the right feel for that muscle."

Kai's Video Blog: Feb 11 - Shoulders Pt3 - Rear Delts - Prep for the ArnoldKai Quote: That workout kicked my ass!

Charles Glass and his assistant give Kai no leeway as they march him through the last of his shoulder workout.

Look at how they concentrate on using the equipment's movement to isolate the targeted area. It takes concentrate in and muscle memory to not only be able to flex that muscle but to also contract it during the workout.

Friday, 13 February 2009
Kai's Video Blog: Feb 11 - Shoulders Pt2 - Delt Isolation - Prep for the ArnoldIn this segment, Charles makes Kai concentrate on the Anterior and Interior deltoids. To do this, Kai runs through the gambit of working heavy upright rows, shoulder presses and some seriously crazy shoulder presses using a hammer strength like piece of gear. (You have to see it to believe it.)

In between the pain and the agony, Kai tries to remind himself to breathe.

Kai's Video Blog: Feb 11 - Shoulders Pt1 - Front Delts - Prep for the Arnold E-mail
Friday, 13 February 2009
Kai's Video Blog: Feb 11 - Shoulders Pt1 - Front Delts - Prep for the ArnoldWorking on the front delts, Kai starts off with the front barbell raises. It almost looks like a barbell curl but you keep the arms slightly bent, bicep in place and bring the barbell up and out.

In this case, you don't want to train the bicep so you must watch the movement to drive the shoulders into the workout.

Dumbbell front raises are something else Kai and Charles get into so watch and learn.

Kai Greene Video Blog: Feb 10 - Legs Pt6 - Fnt Squats - Prep for the Arnold E-mail
Friday, 13 February 2009
Kai Greene Video Blog: Feb 10 - Legs Pt6 - Fnt Squats - Prep for the ArnoldFinal exercise for the day is Front Squats. Even though he has done more weights than Kai, Kai is concentrating on the lift as opposed to going for strength.

The trip to front squats is to drop the pelvis and pull like you are trying to pull your knees to your chest. It works the muscle that connects to the quads up the front.

Take a look at Ronnie Coleman when he was at his best. Kai says Ronnie looked amazing as a result of the front squat exercise.

Kai's adversaries for the Arnold need not watch or listen to this video!

Kai Greene Video Blog: Feb 10 - Legs Pt5 - Lunges - Prep for the Arnold E-mail
Thursday, 12 February 2009
Kai Greene Video Blog: Feb 10 - Legs Pt5 - Lunges - Prep for the ArnoldFollowing Ed Corney's and Frank Zane's photos, Kai looked and followed their foot placements for the following lunge exercises. Not only does it help with size development, but also the way Kai sees it, it's practicing how a person flexes one's quads on stage.

Where as Charles Glass is looking for Kai to keep constant tension while Kai is going through the work out. Using mind to muscle connection, Kai thinks this is what helps with working them in preparation for the Arnold Classic.

(Ignore the Roney Coleman comment about walking with a cross to Calvary!)

Thursday, 12 February 2009
Kai Greene Video Blog: Feb 10 - Legs Pt4 - Work them Quads - Prep for the ArnoldNow that all the warm-ups have been done and all the ancillary muscle have been touched, Charles Glass runs Kai through a brutal quads workout on machines. These machines, when used right, will turn your legs to mush.

Quote from Kai, "After I was done with that machine, my legs felt lag a bag of blood at took me several minutes to walk out of that machine."

Kai Greene Video Blog: Feb 10 - Legs Pt3 - Hamstrings - Prep for the Arnold E-mail
Thursday, 12 February 2009
Kai Greene Video Blog: Feb 10 - Legs Pt3 - Hamstrings - Prep for the ArnoldCharles Glass takes Kai through some form of medieval torture by doing stiff leg deadlifts on the front hack squat machine. The theory behind this movement is to better define the glute and hamstring tie ins while not placing stress on the back.

Charles thinks that by using this machine as opposed to using fee weights on a bar, there is no need to concentrate on not swaying.

Kai says he felt his hamstrings ripping off the bone - pure torture!
